Nuon serves about 2.1 million consumers, businesses and organisations in the Netherlands with electricity and gas. It is among the top three Dutch energy companies with net sales of EUR 3.7 billion in 2013.

Due to an overhaul, Nuon faced the challenge of organising access control for more than 2,000 people. In addition, the site had to be divided into different zones and access could only be granted if certain exams were passed with a satisfactory score. The focus had to be on compliance with laws and regulations and cost savings on access process management.

Access control was achieved through the installation of a control gate and implementation of GoWorkforce Professional. This covered the entire access control process: from online sign-in and granting access to being able to determine exactly who is at the site where and when. Pre-registration saved a lot of time and costs.

Subcontractors pre-register their employees online via the GoWorkforce pre-registration site. One can gain access to the site only when all required details and documents are completed, uploaded and approved. This ensures compliance with laws and regulations and puts the workload of the administrative processes more on the subcontractors and less on the client.
