Which wacker plate should I hire?
At Boels, we offer a wide selection of wacker plates and rammers to meet your needs. Both are great for compacting soil and settling paving. The main difference? A wacker plate is ideal for larger surfaces, while a rammer is more compact, making it better suited for smaller areas. When choosing, be sure to consider the size, compaction force, and type of power source.
Rammer
A rammer is more compact than the average wacker plate, making it perfect for compacting and vibrating in tight spaces where a wacker plate can't fit, such as trenches and ditches.
Reversible or single direction plate compactor
Wacker plates are available in both reversible and single direction models. A reversible plate compactor forwards and backwards, making it easier to handle on many jobs. A single direction plate compactor only moves forwards but often delivers a smoother finish. Your choice depends on whether ease of use or a flawless finish is more important for your project.
Small, medium, or large wacker plate
Wacker plates come in various sizes, from compact 30 cm models to heavy-duty versions up to a 60 cm wide, with plenty of options in between. Your ideal compactor should be wide enough to cover large areas efficiently, but compact enough to tackle tight corners without hassle.
Compaction force
The compaction force, measured in kiloNewtons (kN), indicates how powerful the machine’s vibrations are. For lighter tasks, you choose a compactor with a lower kN. Tackling tougher jobs? Opt for a higher kN. At Boels, we offer machines with compaction forces ranging from 11 kN to 35 kN, so you’ll find the perfect fit for any project.
Power source
Wacker plates come with different power sources: electric, diesel, or petrol – and Boels offers them all. Just keep in mind that fuel costs may apply if you choose to rent a diesel or petrol-powered machine.
