An Andreas strip, better known as a rumble strip, is a plastic strip that can be placed on the road surface of a lane. The strips are mainly used in sets of three to alert drivers to upcoming roadworks and to close off a lane or a hard shoulder. They are generally intended for motorists who ignore or have missed previous notice boards. The dots can also be used on private property as temporary speed bumps.
