IQ-Pass at construction sea lock IJmuiden OpenIJ
About OpenIJ
The new, larger sea lock should improve accessibility to the port of Amsterdam and boost the region's economy by providing sufficient space for the ever-growing sea vessels. The new lock is 70 metres wide, 500 metres long and 18 metres deep. The lock will be open to shipping in early 2022.
The solution
A project of this size requires a solid access control solution. As of 2016, OpenIJ received over 6,000 unique individuals with 30 different nationalities from more than 575 organisations on the project. So plenty of challenges in terms of access control and contractor management.
Throughout the project, IQ-Pass provided access control for the site, including the deployment of the following solutions:
- XL turnstiles with security lodge
- XA turnstiles
- Barriers with remote app control
- Registration and cancellation kiosks
- Musterpoints for evacuation
GoWorkforce
By using GoWorkforce, all employees could be invited in advance by the contractors and suppliers to carry out the online onboarding. This allowed employees to register in advance so that on arrival at the site, access could be granted immediately if the documentations and qualifications were in order. Site safety instruction and examination was also part of this online process. This ensured a quick flow at the pass issue, allowing people to get to work quickly.
Together with OpenIJ, GoWorkforce looked at the laws and regulations and from this information designed the application so that the various laws would always be complied with. Employees were only given access when they met the requirements. If they did not or one of the documents expired at the time of the project, access was blocked again.
Results
During project OpenIJ, we used IQ-Pass and GoWorkforce to register 6,117 people with 30 nationalities from 575 organisations. A total of 18,957 qualifications were submitted and time records were kept of all employees. Thanks in part to GoWorkforce, OpenIJ was fully compliant and no violations were identified. Reporting to the tax authorities in connection with horizontal supervision was also very efficient.
It is therefore a partnership we are very proud of. Thank you OpenIJ and partners for this fine cooperation.
